Dell has a few limited edition coupons for various HDTVs! So if you need a television, take a look at these offers from Dell. Here we go!
First up, Save $220 on Sharp® AQUOS® 26" LC26D43U 720p LCD HDTV. Only $679 after savings! As you can see the prices even for the big names have dropped. It's no longer just the OEMs and store-brands that are "affordable"!
Moving on up, in price and size and features, Save $200 on Philips® 42" 42P FL5332D 720p LCD HDTV. Only $1199 after savings!. Keep in mind this is 720p, not 1080p, which is why you are paying a lower price. Not that there's anything dramatically wrong with 720p, considering that only BluRay offers true 1080p, broadcast and cable/satellite do not!
And now an even bigger one, Save $500 on Sony® 52" KDL-52W3000 1080p LCD HDTV. Only $2499 after savings!. As you can see, it's not just the size and the Sony brand that double the price compared to the 42" Philips in the previous paragraph. It's also the 1080p.
So ultimately what do you get? 1080p or 720p? Well, that is a very good question. There is no one-size-fits-all answer. It depends on your needs, and also what you plan to do with the TV in question. Will you be watching mostly TV? BluRay discs? Will this be your primary TV? Will it be a secondary TV? Will it be the centerpiece of your home theater or a bedroom TV? Or will it be used at the office to watch some programming or will it used in an art studio to showcase arts and pictures? I could go on for years, I hope you get my point... :)

HDTV specials at Circuit City this week
Let's take a look at some of the many HDTV sets offered by Circuit City and featured in this weeks circular.
There are dozens of TVs featured, we will only spotlight a few of them. For the complete list, check the weekly ad listed below.
We start with the Element FLX2611B 26" LCD HDTV at $450 and without any rebates needed. You can also take advantage of a current Circuit City promotion where you receive 0% interest for 12 months when you make a purchase of $299 or more. Be sure to check the terms and conditions of course.
The Element 26" LCD has a 720p resolution, HDMI input, PC connectivity, 16:9 aspect ratio, ATSC and NTSC tuners, along with the usual assortment of features at this price level.
Moving on to the 32" size, the Vizio 32" LCD HDTV, model VX32LHDTV10A is offered at $630 and no rebates! This Vizio has 2 HDMI inputs, 720p resolution, 8ms response time, zoom and freeze function, virtual surround sound, NTSC, ATSC and QAM tuners (nice!), 16:9 aspect ratio, 1200:1 contrast ratio, 178 degree viewing angle, and a weight of 33 pounds.
Staying at 32", we have the Sony 32" Bravia M-Series LCD HDTV, for $800, without any rebates. This is Sony model KDL32M3000. It has 720p resolution, two HDMI inputs, 8ms response time, 3D Comb Filter, 1000:1 contrast ratio, an ATSC, QAM and NTSC tuner giving you flexibility for analog, over the air digital and unscrambled cable tuning directly from the television set. It even has a PC Input so you can work on your laptop and view the results on a 32" screen instead of a tiny 13" screen :) Weight is 31 lbs, or 36 lbs if you use the optional bse.
As you can see, there is a $170 price difference between the Sony and the Vizio above. It may come as a surprise that the price difference is not even higher. Not that we can complain about lower prices. The lower the better :) We do not have a recommendation as to which one to get, be sure to check the specs, and various discussions and reviews at the various audio-video forums. Two of our favorite A/V sites are AVSforum, and DSL Reports.
Moving along, we have a 50" Plasma HDTV for $1000! That's right, just $1000 gets you the Element PLX5002B 50" Plasma HDTV. Remember, this is PLASMA not LCD, like the ones mentioned above! It has 720p resolution, 2 hdmi inputs, 15000:1 contrast ratio, simulated surround sound, digital comb filter, a trio of tuners (ATSC, NTSC, QAM), PC Input, 16:9 aspect ratio like just about all new TVs, as well as detachable stand and full-function remote control for those who don't want to fuss with those programmable remote controls. Weight is 110 lbs. Circuit City is also offering a combo meal with this: For an extra $150 you can get a wall mount and an hdmi cable. Fries not included :)

Sony KDL-26S3000 and Sharp LC26D43U HDTV specials at Dell
Dell has two Sony HDTV specials that you may find of interest, especially if you like the Sony or Sharp brands on one hand, but don't want to spend too much money on the other hand :)
First up, we have $200 instant savings on Sony Bravia 26" 26S3000 720p LCD HDTV. This is mdoel KDL-26S3000, an LCD HDTV, with an ATSC digital tuner with QAM, which means you can pick up over the air but also unencrypted digital cable channels and tune them with the TV. Of course this won't help with encrypted channels, for those you still need the cable box, unless there is a cable card, but that's a different can of worms for a different place and a different time. We digress. Back to this TV, it is part of the Sony Bravia line-up, can be used with a computer as well (nice bonus when you get tired of your tiny laptop screen), has HDMI and lots. Check the link for more details.
And then we have $220 instant savings on a Sharp AQUOS 26" LC26D43U 720p LCD HDTV . The Sharp Aquos LC26D43U is a 26" LCD HDTV as well, and it is lovely as well. Especially the price. Of course if you want to pay the absolute minimum you can always go for the store-brand names or the Olevia and Vizio types. Nothing wrong with those. We like low prices! But if you prefer to get one fo the more high end brands, then the Sonys and the Sharps and the Panasonics, and the Pioneers and such are the ones to look at.

Free after rebate in this week's Sunday paper ads
This is a modest week in free after rebate (FAR) items in the Sunday paper circular ads. The drugstores seem to dominate the freebies. First up, Rite Aid offers the Garnier Color Breaks Hair Color, one application, for free after a $5.99 rebate. Also from Rite Aid, Nature's Cure Yeast Infection Treatment, 1 or 3 day package, free after a $16.99 rebate. The good thing with Rite Aid rebates is that you can submit them online. There is no need to cut upc codes or mail receipts and forms. Nice! More details at the Rite Aid site.
Longs Drugs offers a couple of freebies as well, first up the Longs branded Nicotine Polacrilex coated gum, 2mg or 4mg, 40ct, for free after a $20 rebate. Also after a $20 mail-in rebate you can get the Ameal BP Dietary supplement 60ct or 90ct chewable. Ameal helps maintain healthy blood pressure. Longs Drugs rebates have to be submitted by mail, but you don't need to send upc codes.
Walgreens offers $50 in coupons for free just for asking the Walgreens pharmacist about the Walgreens Prescriptions Savings Club. This lets you pay just $13 for a 90-day supply for over 300 generic medications. Free after rebate is the Gilette Venus Embrace Razor, after a $10 mail in rebate. Walgreens rebates have to be mailed in, but you do not need to cut upc codes.
Also free after rebate at Walgreens is the Accu-Chek Ativa blood glucose meter. The mail-in rebate is on the box, not in the Walgreens EasySaver catalog. This has to be submitted separated from the monthly Walgreens rebates. The price you pay is $20. As with all rebates, be sure to make copies of everything you submit, and keep track of the rebates.

Apple MB061LLB 2.0GHz MacBook 13.3" for $1100 at J&R World
J&R World is offering an Apple Macbook on special for $1100 and free shipping. This Macbook uses Mac OS 10.5 Leopard, has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 2 gigahertz, 1 gigabyte of ddr2 memory, stores data on an 80gb hard disk drive.
It also has a 13.3" widescreen, making it portable enough to carry almost everywhere you go, has a combo drive (sadly cannot burn DVDs, but can burn CDs and play DVDs), built-in webcam, built-in Airport Extreme which does the alphabet soup (A, B, G, N), has USB, Firewire and LAN ports, and built-in Bluetooth.
The biggest knock on this in our opinion is that it cannot burn DVDs. If that's not an issue, then we have no objections :)

Free after rebate in this week's Sunday paper
This week's news paper is rather dry in free after rebate specials unfortunately. The only one of note we found is by Rite Aid drugstores, where you can get your choice of Garnier Fructis Style products. Be sure to check the rebate book to see which items qualify for the rebate. You have a choice of curl scrunch, curl sculpting cream gel, and non-aerosol XXL volume hairspray. The sale price is $3, and the rebate is $3 (actually $2.99).
The great thing with Rite Aid rebates is that you can submit them online, and you don't have to submit anything by snail mail. You simply enter information from your cash register receipt onto the Rite Aid rebate website, and at the end of hte month request your check. They, along with Staples Easy Rebates are our favorite rebate systems since they are much easier and more efficient than copying things and mailing them with snail mail, and such.

Discover Cashback Bonus special in the Sunday paper
Discover Cards have a new promotion in the sunday paper, in the Smart Source coupon section. Be sure to check it out in your sunday paper. Here is a summary for y'all.
You recieve a $75 cashback bonus when you make $250 in purchases per month for 3 months. This comes out to $750 in purchases yielding a $75 reward. This is the equivalent of a 10% reward. GOOD!
You also get a 3.9% APR until 2010 on balance transfers. With the multiple drops in interest rates, this is something you need to look into. Depending on your credit score and other balances, you may be able to get qualify for much lower rates, even 0%, so be sure to check around first.
You also get 5% cashback bonus on select categories throughout the year. The special categories change every three months. You can also receive rewards from 5% to 20% when you make your online purchases through the Discover card online shopping portal.
The bad news for the Discover cashback rewards program is that for purchases that do not qualify for any specials, you receive a tiered cashback reward that starts at a sad and miserable 0.25%. Almost all other cashback programs have a baseline of 1% and unfortunately Discvoer continues to "ostrich" this.
For more details visit the Discover site or call their toll free number. The invitation code listed in the sunday paper is DAHX.
For more coverage of Discover in this blog, be sure to check our previous posts with the Discover tag. A total of 14 posts so far!

Pepsi on sale for $1.25 per 2-liter at Longs Drugs
With the Pepsi Stuff promotion under way, you might be on one many people who are feverishly collecting Pepsi stuff points so you can get DRM-free mp3s from Amazon (legally of course) or other goodies. Since that promo came up, it seems that the 99c 2-liter Pepsi sales have dried up.
The best we found so far is $1.25 per 2-liter bottle at Longs Drugs. Be sure to check the bottles you buy to make sure they are participating in the promotion, and they are not older or non-participating. Look for the PepsiStuff.com text and promo on the label and at the top of the cap.
For more details, be sure to check PepsiStuff.com. It is interesting that they have cross-linked the promo with the Amazon accounts.
Of course if you don't want to do that, you can just create another user name for the purposes of this promo. You are an enpowered consumer, don't let them bully you around! :) Oh my, I'm turning into a Coupon Version of Oprah? I'm the Couponprah!

Super Dooper Laptop deal
The Compaq Presario Model C700T Configuration Code 80409061 is your typical entry-level laptop, but with a dvd burner, 15.4" widescreen, 1gb RAM, and wireless. But it's price is very nice, $300 after a $135 mail-in rebate! Nice price!
26" widescreen HDTV for $450 (no rebates!)
A Viewsonic 26" LCD HDTV is offered at $450, and without rebates. This has 2 built-in HDMI® inputs, 1366 x 768 WXGA resolution, and it is model N2635w. If you are not familiar with it, be sure to look it up online, and check for reviews and discussions as such.

Specials in this week's Office Max weekly flyer (2/10 to 2/16/08)
Office Max, the home of no rebates allowed, is having a new round of specials for the upcoming week of 2/10 to 2/16, of the earth year 2008. Let's see what might be hot.
For laptop users, the Targus Tornado Cooler is available for $20. Especially a must if you use your laptop a lot, or if it has a battery that heats up.
Store your data at a bargain price! 100-packs of Verbatim DVD-R and DVD+R blank discs are offered for the special price of $20. That comes out to just 20c per disc. Not a bad price considering this is Verbatim. Of course the best thing to do is to check the media ID of these, to be sure you are getting a good batch.
More with the data saving theme, the 4gb Verbatim USB 2.0 flash drive is offered at just $30, the price of $7.50 per gigabyte. Anything under $10 per gigabyte at brick and mortar stores is a good price!
And a 500gb Seagate FreeAgent of the USB 2.0 variety, is offered at $120. Not a bad price for half a terrabyte.
And how about a 20" Sceptre widescreen monitor for just $170? And no rebates! Oh my!
If you don't object to "couponizing", Officemax.com has printable coupons on their website to provide you with additional savings. Check their site for more details on those.
As it is with this time of the year, tax software are offered in different prices and configurations, with different bonus items. The usual suspects of course are Quicken Turbo Tax and H&R Block TaxCut.
On the computer front, there isn't a bargain laptop, but there is a $500 desktop bundle that includes a 19" widescreen LCD. This is an HP Pavillion.

Quizno's Sammies: Affordable quick togo ideas
If you are on the go and in a hurry, and you want to pick up affordable yet healthy food, consider the new Sammies by Quiznos. They are small flatbread sandwiches, $2 each, and range from 200 to 300 calories each, available in six different varieties.
Two of the six flavors use balsamic vinegar (chicken or steak), and are around 200 calories each, which make it a good choice for people watching and counting their calories. The balsamic vinegar gives them a bold taste!
The other four are all non-veggie (chicken, steak or both) and go up to 400 calories each. You could I suppose ask that they make them without meat, but given their size, they may be a bit too "empty" without meat.

Free HD-DVD player with purchase of select Toshiba HDTVs!
The good people at OneCall have a great special! If you purchase a select Toshiba HDTV, you get an HD-DVD player for free!.
Which one is the free HD-DVD player? It is the Toshiba HD-A30 which goes for about $150 at the moment. If you followed the CES 2007 coverage at the various gadget blogs, such as Crunch Gear and Ubergizmo, you will have seen that BluRay is perhaps winning over HD-DVD, but the backers of HD-DVD are not folding up the tent just yet. Oh the drama of the high def format wars. And how sad that the techc companies have not learned from history!
One of the Toshiba HDTV participating in the promotion is the Toshiba 42LX177 for $1630. This is a 42 inch 120hz 1080p LCD Cinema Series Regza, with shipping included. And S&H is not cheap for TVs, so having shipping included is a good thing!
If you prefer a 46" version of that HDTV, you can get the Toshiba 46LX177 for $2200, also with free S&H.
52" inchers
If you want a bigger television set, then you have a choice of two of them from Toshi. First, the Toshiba 52HL167 for $2170, and then the Toshiba 52LX177 for $2800. Free shipping for either one. The difference between the two? The former is just a Regza, while the latter is a Cinema series Regza at 120hz

Stylish colorful grocery bags for 99c!
If you are a fan of Trader Joe grocery stores, or if you live near one, be sure to check out their new grocery bags. They are not your typical boring reusable pro-environment grocery bags, but rather they have a very nice and very colorful surfboard design. This looks a whole lot better than a 99c grocery bag, and you can probably use it for other purposes too! Check your local TJ for more!
And remember, taking your own reusable bags to the grocery store helps the environment. And if you don't, be sure to reuse or recycle the paper and plastic bags you get from the grocery store!

Staples Sunday paper ads (2/3 to 2/9, 2008)
Let's see what goodies Staples has in-store for us for the week that starts on Sunday February 3rd, 2008!
First up, free after mail-in rebates (not Easy Rebates) is the Norton Internet Security 2008 software package. Be sure to read the instructons and such for rebates eligibility, and as always make copies of everything you submit!
Laptop users looking for affordable $500 laptops may want to take a long hard look at the Acer Aspire AS4720 which features an Intel Pentium dual core T2330 processor, 1gb RAM, 160gb hard disk drive, built-in webcam, super multi format dvd burner, 14.1" widescreen display, b/g wireless lan, and of course vista home premium. No rebates! You pay $500 plus tax if applicable in your city/state/country/planet.
And something to go with your laptop perhaps for just $160: The Envision 19" LCD monitor, which features up to 1280 x 1024 resolution and 8 ms video response time. No rebates! While supplies last and all that good stuff.
Continuing with technology, there's some nice camera deals, namely the Sony W55 at $130, the Canon Elph SD 1000 at $160, and the HP Photosmart MZ67 at $130. Also the big zoom (but small body size) Kodak Easyshare Z712-IS is going for $180.
If you have many CDs and DVDs lying around without a place to "stay", consider the 100pk of Staples branded slim line jewel cases for $13. This is a reasonable price, it comes out to about 13c per slim line jewel case. No media is included, just the cases!
