Get $20 gift card at RiteAid by spending over $100 in a month

If you are a regular Rite Aid customer, this is an awesome deal. If you spend over $100 in purchases in a period of over one month, they will send you $20 cashback. This is way cool. So let's start from the beginning...

To qualify, you have to spend $100 or more at Rite Aid stores, between November 16 and December 24, 2008. That's more than a month! Most consumer product purchases qualify, but there are some exceptions. The following items are NOT eligible: gift cards, phone cards, gift certificates, stamps, lottery tix, alcohol and tobacco, prescriptions, Rx co-pays, mailing services, online services, and things like that.

When you make a purchase, you simply go to the Rite Aid website, and enter the numbers from your receipt, just like you do with the Single Check Rebate program. In fact it's running from the same website so if you are already a member, you don't need a new account.

So you enter the numbers from your receipt, and the Rite Aid computes automatically calculate your eligible purchases. After the promotional period is over, all you have to do is request the gift certificate, and it will be delivered to you.

If you are a regular Rite Aid shopper, this is awesome, it's like getting a 20% discount. So with more than five weeks in the promotion, all you need to do is spend about $20 per week. If you get things like sodas, candy, cleaning supplies, beauty supplies and such, it's not hard to pile up $20 each week!

Not to mention any specials they may be having during Black Friday and the Holidays! You have NOTHING to lose by participating!

Shop early, shop often, shop wisely :-)

Virgin Mobile pre-paid cellphones for $7.11 at 711

Having fun with numbers! 711 is now having a new promotion, where they are offering their inventory of Virgin Mobile pre-paid cellular phones for exactly $7.11, plus sales tax where applicable. This is a great price!

A great use for Virgin Mobile pre-paid phones is if you want to get rid of your land-line but don't want to lose your phone number. So what you do is get a $7.11 cellphone, transfer the number to Virgin Mobile, and sign-up for the auto-topup plan that costs $15 every 3 months. So you end up paying $5 per month instead of over $20 per month with your local telephone operator. Plus you get the extra bonus of voice-mail, free long-distance and things like that.

But obviously this is only a good deal if you don't plan on using the phone too much. In other words, if you plan on spending $5 per month, which is about 30 minutes (depending on which plan you chose), then it's good!

In other words, this would be something like protecting your domain name, eg keeping your old landline number in case there are some people who still don't have your new(er) number.

ING Direct: Make a cool $25 and get a free checking account to boot!

If you already have an ING Direct Savings account, just log in to your account, and look for the promotion under your accounts page to give the Electric Orange checking account a try.

If you apply and get approved for the account, and make 3 signature-based transactions (use your debit card as a credit card) within 45 days of opening your account, ING Direct will give you a $25 bonus, 50 days after you open your account.

This is a win-win situation no matter what! The account is free, and it even earns around 1.74% interest.

As always with ING Direct, no minimums and no fees. The only time you pay fees is if you ask for priority services (eg overnight card replacement, stop payment, etc).

The "Electric Orange" online checking account includes a free bill payment component. You can also have ING write a check on your behalf through the bill payment system.

This is an online-only account, which is what allows ING to offer all these bonus items.

One more reason why you should do this: With the banking crisis due to foreclosures it's always a good idea to have at least a second bank account in case something goes wrong with the first one.

Since ING offers both "Electric Orange" checking and savings for free, you have nothing to lose. There are no fees, no minimums, no inactivity penalties!

If you are looking for a really cheap desktop computer that is good for general purpose computer tasks (web browsing, email, word processing, etc), they are offering the HP SR5501P tower system, with an AMD dual core X2 4200 processor, 1gb memory, 160gb hard disk, dvd burner with lightscribe and such. You do get the $250 after two mail-in rebates totalling $100, so your out of store price is $350 + sales tax if applicable.

Near freebies at Staples this week

Then there are some good deals for $1, you can get a 6-pack of Sharpie Accent highlighters, regular size. Nice!

They also have a $15 Staples Reward credit promotion for recycling remanufactured or store-brand ink or toner cartridges for HP. This has to be combined with a $25 purchase of HP-branded toner/cartridge however. This is only good for HP, not other printer and ink brands!!!

eBay sellers special: 25c fixed price listings until July 29!

eBay has just launched a new special to entice people to use fixed price listings from July 16 to July 29, as they will only charge a 25c listing fee. This is only for "Fixed Price Listings", not all eBay listings. This is especially good if you are planning to sell items that would otherwise have high listing fees, since your risk now is much lower, namely 25c per item, instead of the standard fees.

And speaking of eBay, if you are selling or plan to sell more than a few items, do consider investigating the eBay store and ProStore options, depending on the number of items and volume. This can save you on listing fees, especially if you have a lot of slow selling items. You can save a lot in listings fees and unlike an auction, you don't have to sell it unless the buyer pays your prices, or makes a reasonable best offer.

Free stuff in the Sunday paper (July 13, 2008)

We have a couple of nice freebies promoted in the Sunday paper this week, starting with Rite Aid, where you can get the 6-oz Crest Expressions toothpaste for free after the Single Checks Rebate for $2.49. Limit one toothpaste per rebate catalog. You have a choice of flavors, the ad shows three different ones, which look yellow-ish (citrus?), red (berry?) and green (mint?). Be sure to check with your local store for details. And the good thing with Rite aid rebates is that they can be submitted online, no need to be mailing receipts!

Next up, we have a mail-in rebate at Office Depot, that can get you a six-pack of TOPS Colored Junior Size Writing Pads. The amount is $7.49, which you will receive a mail-in rebate after you go through the whole song and dance.

Do note that rebates do not refund the sales tax, so if your state has sales tax, consider it a donation to help support your local schools and projects :)

Penny office supplies at Office Depot
Not quite free, but we think one penny is close enough! Office Depot is giving away office supplies at a penny, just like Staples did last week.

The 1c sale includes a 12-pack of red eraser caps, a 6" semicircular protractor, two-pocket paper folders and acrylic rulers. There may be limits per item, but there are many stores and of course you can visit many times. Keep the wig, moustache, and fur coat handy in the car ;-)

1-cent specials at Staples (starting July 6, 2008)

The students are thrilled school is out, but Staples is in a hurry to get them back to school! Their new ad, starting Sunday July 6, 2008, is having a number of 1-cent specials to entice early "back to school" shoppers. At this rate, we are going to have back to school sales the day after the previous school season ends. But that's another story. Here are the 1-cent specials, good Sunday through Wednesday July 9, or while supplies last:

  • Purell 0.5oz bottles. Because you can never be too obsessed with germs. After all, the human body has zero germs ;-) Limit two per customer per visit
  • 8-pack of Dixon #2 yellow pencils, limit two per customer per visit
  • 2-pocket paper folders, 10 per customer per visit

Apart from the penny sales, there is also a free after Easy Rebate item: Pentel HandyLines retractable assorted highlighters. The in-store price is $5 but after you submit and receive your Easy Rebate, the price goes down to zero. Do note that sales tax is not included in the rebate amount.

Other Notable Sales Items
If you are looking for an all-around notebook at a good price, run to Staples to get the Compaq Presario F761us for just $400 after a $30 rebate. Don't let the price fool you, this notebook has everything you need for everyday work, including dvd burner, dual core processor, 15.4" widescreen, wireless, and things like that as Arnold says.

$5 bonus if you shop using the Chase Rewards Plus shopping portal

Chase credit card members, there's a $5 bonus waiting for you if you shop through the Chase Credit Card Rewards Plus shopping portal in July 2008. Your first purchase will get you a special $5 bonus! And of course you get reward points with all your purchases made through the Chase shopping portal. Be sure to check the website for details and also see tips on how to make sure that you are properly rewarded with the points.

For example, don't multi-task when you are ready to make the purchase. Start and finish in one window, don't jump around to other tabs or windows, or change the url in the original page and return, and things like that. These type of things can confuse or overwrite the tracking mechanism, and you may not get your percentage bonus credit!

Chase also offers generous bonus rewards, such as 8% on Target.com and Overstock.com purchases, 6% on Office Depot, 4% on Circuit City, and even 3% on NewEgg. The last one is huge since NewEgg is usually "rewarding" at 1% in places like ebates and fatwallet, and Citibank's Citi Thank You Network online shopping mall. Chase must have procured a special deal with NewEgg, since even the NewEgg affiliate program is not paying "average webmaster joe's" more than 2%.

For all the 4th of July specials at Circuit City, not just HDTVs, be sure to check the link in this sentence!

Tuners Demystified: NTSC, ATSC, QAM
It sounds like an alphabet soup, but these are three different types of tuners. NTSC is the traditional analog tuners we have in our older TVs, VCRs and DVD recorders. ATSC are digital tuners that pick digital TV signals over the air. These can be standard definition digital signals or high definition digital signals (HDTV). QAM is a tuner found typically in dvd recorders and DVRs and tune (unencrypted) digital cable channels. The number of channels your QAM tuner can pick up without using the cable box varies from cable provider to cable provider. Some are stingy and only allow the basic cable channels, others offers more.

Free in the Sunday paper (June 29 to July 5)

Welcome to a new edition of the Free After Rebate in the Sunday Paper! We have some nice goodies this week, so be sure to pay attention!

Two freebies at RiteAid
And they are nice deals too! Both qualify for the Single Check Rebate program, so you can submit them online, without needing to mail-in receipts or anything else. Nice! A new rebate-month starts today at RiteAid so be sure to remember to process your June 2008 rebates as well.

The two free items are the Giovanni Shampoo and Conditioner, priced at $7 before the rebate. This is a sleek-looking bottle, and looks like something you would get at a hair products store. These are 8.5oz bottles. Do note that this is a three-day rebate, so you have until 7/1/08 to get it. It won't last for the whole week!

Next up something for men, $6 before the rebate, either a 6oz Oxy Face Wash or a 5.2oz Oxy Shave Cream. This is a brand new item, and it's good for the whole week, but don't sleep on it, because they may run out of store. The better the deal usually, the faster they run out of stock!

Free Software after rebate at Staples
If you don't mind mail-in rebates and such, you can get the Norton Antivirus 2008 free after rebate at Staples. Do note that this requires mail-in rebates through Norton, and it's not necessarily going through the nice EasyRebates program of Staples. Be sure to check their website and circular ad for more details!

This software package is good for one-PC. Some other packages may be good of up to three PCs. Oh these crazy software peoplez are confusing us!

Free at Walgreens
A new rebate-month starts at Walgreens today, so be sure to remember to process your June 2008 EasySaver catalog rebates. Walgreens only gives us one week, they expect them to be postmarked by Saturday July 5, 2008, and with the 4th of July holiday, you'd better get them out of the way on Monday!

Anyway, back to this week's freebies, Walgreens has a 99c rebate that makes the Hebert's Fully Loaded Bar free after rebate. They have two flavors, Dark Turtle or Rocky Road. The packaging is colorful and rather unique, so it's hard to miss. These are candy with an attitude! No more generic wrappers :) The bars are 2.75oz. Dark Turtle as the name suggests has dark chocolate so you can consider that a nutriotional supplement :)

Also free after mail-in rebate using the rebate on the package (not the EasySaver catalog) is the FreeStyle Lite glucose monitoring system. Limit one rebate. The price you pay is $10, and after you submit and receive the $10 mail-in rebate on the box, the item becomes FREE. Of course none of the rebates refund sales tax, but hey, they help build schools and such :)

Last day for $10 free with $50 purchase at Mervyn's!

Attention Mervyn's shoppers! Today, Sunday June 29, 2008 is the last day to participate in the promotion that gets you $10 free with purchases over $50 at Mervyn's stores! Note that the reward is not unconditional, you will receive a reward for $10 off a purchase of $25 or more during July 2nd to 9th 2008. Prices before sales tax of course.

And what's even better, this can be combined with the 15% off discount when opening a new Mervny's credit account, according to the fineprint found on the last page of this week's Mervyn's circular which you can find in the Sunday paper.

The Sunday circular ad mentions that there is storewide clearance this week of up to 70% off orginal prices, so shop early and often!

Strategy Session: How to make the best bang for the buck
If you are planning a shopping spree, at Mervyn's or at a competitor's store, here is what to do: Pick up the stuff that you need this week and make sure they are at least $50, or more, before sales tax. Then mark a few items to shop for next week (7/2/08 to 7/9/08) and make sure they will be worth $25 or more. For example a pair of Levis jeans or Dockers slacks, or a pair of shoes or a coffee machine or a watch. Since the promotion period starts on 7/2/08, you can buy items from this week's circular, since it is good until Saturday July 5, 2008.

This way not only you get the $10 off coupon, you have also planned out what to buy next week in order to spend the $25 coupon!

New Discover credit card promotions in the Sunday paper coupon books!

Discover Card has two new promotions found in the Sunday paper coupon books. This promotions promise even bigger initial bonus for new cardmembers!

Discover More Card promotion
This promotion is for a traditional Discover credit card and has the following special benefits:

  • $100 Cashback bonus after you make $500+ in purchases with your new credit card. This is HUGE! That's a great temptation on its own.
  • 0% APR on balance transfers until July 2008. Be sure to read the terms and conditions of balance transfers, and know that any subsequent purchases will be charges the full APR, as long as you have lower balances. Ideally if you plan to use this card for a balance transfer, don't use it for anything else, until you pay off the balance transfer
  • 5% Cashback bonus on select categories that change every three motnhs. Do note that these are not uncapped. There is usually a cap of how much you can earn every three months on the special 5% cashback bonus categories
  • And a negative, the standard cashback bonus on all other purchases is not a flat 1%, but rather starts at a pathetically miserable 0.25% and goes up the more you spend. The 5% cashback bonus purchases may not count towards this amount. But considering the $100 initial bonus and 0% APR until July 2009, we can forgive them this time :)
  • Platinum benefits (whatever that means)

For more credit specials from a variety of credit card companies, be sure to click on the CreditCards.com banner below!

CreditCards.com- 468 x 60- Brand Banner

Discover Motiva Credit Card
This is a little bit of a different credit card in that it pays you back a full month's interest every time you make six on-time payments in a row. The other benefits include:
  • $100 Cashback Bonus, just as explained above
  • 3.99% APR on balance transfers until the year 2012 (yes, twenty-twelve, the year the world may end?)
  • Up to 1% standard cashhback bonus (starts at 0.25% and increases as you spend more)
  • No special category 5% cashback bonus like the card above
  • Platinum benefits (whatever that means)

Free stuff in the Sunday Newspaper (June 15)

This is a good week for freebies in the Sunday paper! Both Rite Aid and Walgreens are offering a number of good freebies, including a trio of items for people living with diabetes. So, let us take a quick look!

Free after rebate at Rite Aid
Rite Aid rebates can be submitted online, so there is no need to mail-in receipts or cut UPC codes. These are rebates for people who hate traditional rebates.

Free after a $3 rebate is the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Shampoo or conditioner. I kid you not, I couldn't even make up that name even if I tried. An LTR with a shampoo? How AOLish :) Limit one per household. Do note that this is only good on the LTR shampoos only, not the whole Herbal Essences line-up!

More hair product, the Organix Shampoo or Conditioner can be yours for free after a $5.49 rebate. This is a 13oz container, and it's good for three days only, June 15 to 17. So don't sleep on this one. Only good for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday!

And now something for parents of young ones, Diapermate Disposable diaper bags, 75 count, for free after a $2.49 rebate. Limit one per, as our most of the Rite Aid rebates.

If you like one-time use film cameras, then cheer! You can get the Fuji QuickSnap for free after a $10.99 rebate. This is 400 speed, with 27 exposures. Limit one rebate. Remember, this is a one time use film camera, not a digital camera!

Free with Register Rewards at Walgreens
Walgreens has two type of freebies, the traditional free after rebate, and the newer free after Register Rewards. Register Rewards are instant rebates that you can use towards your next purchase at Walgreens. If you are a regular Walgreens customer, these are as good as cash. There is a small list of items that you cannot buy with Register Rewards (alcohol, etc), but they are good for most of the stuff in store.

And with that out of the way, you can get the Oral B Cross Action power toothbrush, or replacement brush head, for free after $5.50 in Register Rewards.

Free after mail-in rebate at Walgreens
Walgreens has a trio of products for people living with diabetes. The first two rebates are part of the monthly Walgreens EasySaver catalog rebate program. A 60-ct of Multibetic vitamins is offered for free after a $10 MIR, and a 2oz shot of GlucoShot, available in assorted flavors is offered for free after a $2 MIR. Limit one rebate per item.

The next item has the mail-io rebate on the box, it is not part of the Easysaver Walgreens rebate. You have to submit it separately. It is the Freestyle Lit or Freedom Lite blood glucose system, for free after a $10 separate MIR. MIR being mail-in rebate.

And as a bonus, you will get $4.49 in Register Rewards when you purchase the Freestyle or Freedom Lite, and you can use those on your next in-store purchase of Glucerna cereal (9.5oz or 11.1oz). See store or website for more details!

Bank of America $10 off Lowe's purchase of $25 coupon!

Coupon fans check your emails! Bank of America has a new promotion for its World Points credit card members. In their email sent today, they include a link to a promotion for $10 off a Lowes purchase of $25 or more.

This is how the promotion looks. Note that the following is not the coupon!

If you are a regular Lowe's customer or need something that is worth at least $25, then you can't go wrong with this deal! If you buy a $25 item, it's an effective 40% discount! If you buy a $50 item, it's an effective 20% discount. If you buy a $100 item, it's an effective 10% discount!

We could go on for ever with the math, but as you can see, this is a good deal!

One word of caution if you have a balance transfer or other low interest rate promotion on your credit card: be sure to know that this purchase would accrue interest at the standard APR rate (20% or more?), while you are carrying the low interest promotional balance.

eBay Sellers: Discounted FVF (Final Value Fees) for offering free shipping!

eBay is having a special promotion going from May 23 to June 1, 2008, in order to entice sellers to offer free shipping. Of course regular eBay sellers are well aware that eBay likes free shipping because they can also charge a final value fee on the shipping and handling fees, eating away at the poor seller's already thin profit margins. Of course buyers like free shipping too, even though I'm sure most of them are not dumb enough to think that they won't pay for shipping one way or another.

So it's with that irony in mind that we present the details of this eBay sellers promotion, which includes a 15% return of the final value fees. Be sure to read all the terms and conditions and restrictions if you are interested.

We think that if eBay is honest about wanting people to offer free shipping, they should permanetly offset the final value fees for free shipping seller listings. Are you listening fee-Bay? :)

Why the Chase Freedom Cash back beats the other 1% cards for 1% purchases

So if you are a savvy credit card rewards optimizer, you know that different credit card have different promotions for select categories. You can get as much as 5% on things like groceries, gas, drugstore, restaurant, seasonal and other purchases. That's pretty much documented.

What is perhaps flying under the radar is the world of 1% earnings. Most of the cashback credit cards offer 1% on all categories that do not earn a bonus. In most cases 1% gets you 1:1 in rewards, sometimes less if a reward point is worth less than 1c.

What distinguishes Chase Freedom from the rest is that their rewards program has a special bonus on the cashback reward. If you are patient enough (or spend a lot) and accumulate $200 in cash rewards, you will instead receive a $250 reward. That's an extra $50. That is 25% more ($50/$200). That means that your 1% purchases are actually earning 1.25%. And that's why Chase beats the other 1% programs.

Be sure to check with your rewards program details to make sure you are enrolled in this particular version of the program. We do not know if there are multiple variations or everybody is signed up to the same program.

Chase Freedom Blink $10 reward just for using the card!

If you have a Chase Freedom card with Blink, check your latest snail mail! Chase has a special promotion where they encourage people to use the Blink feature of their card. The Blink is the "wireless swipe" of the card using the chip on the card.

The promotion in the mail says that if you have three or more Blink transactions from now until June 2008, you will receive an additional $10 cashback bonus or 1000 points, depending on whether you are setup for cash or rewards. You can always switch between the two so it's not an issue.

The good news is that there are no spending requirements, just use the card three or more times at a place that takes Blink, like 711, Jack in the Box, Arby's, etc. Not all locations may be participating, so check with your local stores to see. You can also find a list of participating locations by zip code at ChaseBlink.com. Please note that their website uses Flash.

Money Saving websites!

We have ran into a couple of websites that have some great ideasl on how to save you money!

We start with Frugal Dad whose mission is to help people spend less and enjoy life more! That's right, spending does not equate happiness! You can get started by reading their top ten posts.

You can get many great ideas and discover new money-saving sites and blogs at Money Hackers. Just like Life Hacker, this is all white-hat stuff :-)

And if you have a Providian/Washington Mutual credit card, look through your snail mail letters. They do have a promotion where you get an extra 3% cash-back on ALL purchases. This is unconditional, so you can use it to pay anything and get a total of 4% cash back. This is a limit time offer and has a $30 reward cap, which means you have to spend $1000 to get the maximum $30 reward. Ideal perhaps if you are planning to make a tax payment :)

New Discover Cashback Bonus More Card special in the Sunday paper

A new Discover Cashback bonus More card offer is included in the Sunday paper, more specifically in the coupon book section, on the back page of the SmartSource coupon booklet.

This new offer promises a $75 Discover Cashback Bonus if you make $500 worth of purchases within three months of being approved for the new card. That is great news, because it's like an affective 15% reward bonus on $500 of purchases. Where else can you get that kind of a bonus? :) The invitation code is DAMV.

You also have a 3.9% APR special that lasts until 2012 (twenty twelve) on balance transfers, and you earn 5% cashback bonus on select categories that change every three months. Be sure to note however that these 5% earnings are capped, you don't get unconditional 5% earnings in each quarter.

You do get unconditional 5% to 20% off your online purchases when you make them from the Discover Card website shopping portal. The percentages are usually higher on smaller, boutique type of shops, and lower on mass market retailers. As you can expect.

For all other purchases you receive the miserable up to 1% cashback bonus from Discover. Miserable because you start at 0.25%. That is really sad. Really. In a world where Citi is offering 5% and Chase 3% (effective 3.75% if you earn $200 in cash rewards and get the $250 bonus), and just about every other cash card starts at 1%, Discover insists on starting at 0.25%. Be sure to read the fineprint on this one as it gets twisted on what counts and what doesn't. You do "graduate" to 0.50% and 0.75% and 1% eventually though.

Free stuff in the Sunday Paper Ads (after rebate of course)

Welcome to another edition of the Sunday Paper Freebies! In today's episode we have drugstores and Staples freebies! We start with the latter.

Freebies at Staples
Staples uses Easy Rebates, which are the most consumer friendly rebates out there, as you don't need to mail or photography anything. You simply enter numbers from your receipt on the Staples rebates website and thus you submit your rebates!

The freebies are Pentel retractable assorted highlighters or permanent markers. You can chose one or the other. The highlighters are a four-pack of orange, yellow, pink and blue. The permanent markets are blue, black and red. The SKU codes are 698067 for the highlighters and 698057 for the permanent markers. Both are of the retractable variety, working like a pen in that you click it for the writing tip to come out of the shell. The SKU numbers are helpful so you can easily match the offer to the product display at Staples. And you don't need to rely on a CSR to match the offer with the rebate!

Also free, after a $140 mail-in rebate (not Easy Rebate), is the Peachtree Pro Accounting 2008 software package, by Sage. Limit one per customer. You still have to pay sales tax on the whole amount however. Be sure to check the box or the Staples website for more details.

Free after rebate at the drugstores
Longs Drugs is offering the Refresh Dry Eye Trial Pack free after a mail-in rebate using their Longs Rebate Catalog. You assemble all your rebates for the month, and mail them all together in one envelope. The price before rebate is $5, which is what you pay in-store. Plus any applicable taxes of course :)

At Walgreens, free after a on-box rebate (not a Walgreens Easy Saver Catalog rebate) is the Accu-Check Aviva blood glucose meter system. Limit one per person. The rebate amount is $20, which is what you pay in-store. Remember the rebate for this item is on/in the box, not the Walgreens rebate book!

Meanwhile Rite Aid has three items that are free after rebate. Rite aid rebates can be submitted online, which spares you the trouble of making photocopies and mailing stuff at the Post Office! Not to mention that you know within 3-4 days whether your entry was approved. Which gives you plenty of time to fix it or return the item if you accidentally got the wrong one. The three Rite Aid freebies (after rebate) are:

  • Aquafresh Extreme Clean toothpaste, 5.6 ounces, limit one, price $2.49
  • Colgate Total Advanced toothpaste, 4oz, limit one, price $2.99
  • Samy Shampoo, conditioner, or stylers, limit 1, price: $4.99

    Free after manufacturers coupon
Rite Aid is offering the Adidas Action 3 antiperspirant/deodorant, 2.6 to 2.8 oz, for $4.99. And if you dig into the coupon section of your sunday paper you will find a coupon for $4.99 off this item. So if you use your coupon at Rite Aid, you will get this item for free. No rebates to mail, this is free after coupon!

Totally Free: 15 prints at Walgreens (on Tax Day!)
As an extra incentive to get your taxes done early, Walgreens is offering 15 free 4x6 prints on Tuesday April 15, 2008. This is unconditional, no rebates, no other purchases. You do have to present a coupon which you can find in the weekly Walgreens circular which is in your Sunday paper, but also in each Walgreens store. You will also receive it via email if you are in the Walgreens mailing list. And you can probably print it from their website as well. It's FREE :) The prints of course are 4x6 digital prints, don't expect to get 15 giant posters for free :)

You can also do this online, promotion code TAXDAY. For online stuff, you can redirect them to your local Walgreens shop or you can get them by mail, which I assume will have the additional cost of shipping and handling.

Best Buy Reward Zone: 100 bonus points and faster online delivery!

If you are a member of Best Buy's free Reward Zone rewards program, check your email inbox! They have a new promotion where you can sign up for online delivery of your rewards certificates. Best Buy promises that they will be delivered two weeks earlier with online delivery, and as an incentive for signing up and saving them the costs of printing and mailing, they will give you 100 bonus points.

100 bonus points are not a whole lot in the Best Buy Rewards Zone program, but getting your rewards two weeks earlier sounds like a good idea, especially if you are a regular Best Buy shopper that loads up on rewards points and wants to spend it yesterday :)

One roll of film developed free at Walgreens (Wednesday)

Walgreens is continuing with the free theme this week. As you may recall, last week they offered a free ink cartridge refill. This week, they are offering free development of one roll of film on Wednesday April 9, 2008.

As with before, the coupon is available for free in the Walgreens circular which you can find in your sunday paper, in your local Walgreens store, and also in your email inbox if you are subscribed to the Walgreens emails.

The offer applies to 35m film, APS film and one-time use cameras. Limit one roll per customer! This is free one-hour development even, so it's not like you have to wait forever to get it.

Be sure to check the Walgreens site to find participating stores in your region.

No purchase is necessarily, they are using this as a ploy to get people through the door. With digital cameras being more and more popular, and places developing film fewer and fewer, we are guessing they are trying to capitalize on that.

Coupon $10 off $50+ purchase at Sears for Citi Cards members

Citi Cards members check your statements! There is a coupon in the statement, part of the statement, that gets you a $10 discount off your purchase of $50 or more at Sears! The coupon is valid until May 31st, 2008, so that gives you plenty of time.

You do have to use a Citi Card to pay for your purchase in order to use the coupon! But of course as with most coupons, it is not an unconditional $10 off $50, there are excluded items from this offer. For example, you can't buy gift cards, which makes sense since they won't move any merchandise, but instead they would be giving you an extra $10 in hand.

Actually the list of excluded items is long, here it is. The offer is not valid on the following:

  • Introductory offers
  • Electronics
  • dvd movies, video games and systems, CDs
  • closeout and clearance
  • special purchases and Great Price items
  • Land's End and Levis
  • Sears.com or Sears Auctions on eBay
  • outlet store
  • catalog orders
  • fragrances
  • compact refrigeration
  • Kenmore Pro
  • Stearns and Foster mattresseses
  • Celestial Star diamonds
  • water heaters, propane tanks, Weber
  • automotive services
  • pharmacy
  • beer and wine
  • install home improvements
  • repair service
  • Two Hearts Maternity and other licensed businesses
  • gift cards (of course)
  • money orders (duh!)
  • wire transfers (duh!)
  • protection agreements (don't want to cut into those high margins!)

And now if there's anything left in-store you want to buy, you can use your coupon! :-) The terms state one coupon per purchase, and cannot be used in combination with another coupon. If you have multiple Citi credit cards that participate in this promotion you should be able to use them in separate purchases since the terms do not mention "one per person" but rather "one per purchase".

New Borders Rewards members coupon and specials

If you are a member of the Borders Rewards membership program, be sure to check your emails as there is a new coupon posted! The printable coupon offers offers 20% off the list price of one item. The coupon is good only if you have a Borders Rewards membership card.

The good news is that the membership is free, and you can get one online or you can get one in mere seconds at any Borders store! It's free! And we like free in this blog :)

However, the 20% off coupon is not unconditional, so be sure to read the fineprint. You can also use it at Borders Express and Waldenbooks.

Also don't forget that April 2nd through 8th is Educator Savings week, and there will be a special reception on April 4, 2008. That would be tomorrow, Friday, from 4pm to 8pm local time. More details on the Educator Savings at this special events page at Borders. There you can find participating stores in the promotion.

In addition to the Borders Rewards program, they have also launched an online rewards program, Borders Perks which gets you online savings. This is independent of the bookstore business.

Free stuff in the Sunday paper (free after coupon or rebate!)

We all like free, free is good! And this is a good week of freebies in the Sunday paper of March 30, 2008.

We already mentioned the free after coupon special at Walgreens, free cartridge refill today only (Wednesday April 2nd), with a coupon. The coupon is easy to find, it's in the Walgreens weekly circular which can be found in the Sunday paper and in the stores. You can also print the coupon from your Walgreens email specials email, and you can probably find it on their website as well! The value of a black ink refill is $10 and color is $15. There are no prerequisites for this deal, no purchase necessary. They do have a list of printer cartridges that are compatible however, so be sure to check if your printer is in the list.

Two nice FAR Staples Delta Elite pens
Next up we have a nice two-pack of black pens at Staples, free after easy rebate. Easy Rebates can be submitted online, and you don't need to mail anything! The pens are the Staples Delta Elite black pens, retractable, and refillable with Parker-style refills. Limit one per customer. We checked yesterday at our local Staples and they still had some in store. This is Staples SKU number 492989. These are nice pens! And the Staples rebates are fairly fast and reliable!

    Six FAR items at Walgreens
Meanwhile at Walgreens, we have six free after-rebate EasySaver catalog specials. We start with what you can eat: a free bar of SoyJoy 1.06oz), free after a $1.39 rebate. These are nice compact nutrition bar, but they are a bit dry and cardboard-y but eating them with a cup of water helps bring out the taste :)

Then at Walgreens we have your choice of Aquafresh Extreme Clean Polishing Action (5.6oz) or Advanced 2X Whitening (6oz), free after the rebate of $3.49. And if you need a toothbrush, after a rebate of $3.99 you can get the Colgate 360 Clean or Deep Clean toothbrush.

Next up, we have Turns Quik Pak (24 pack, Berry Fusion), after a rebate of $4.49. Yum for the tummy when it needs some help? :)

For the cosmetics buffs on a budget out there, the Jane Be Pure Mineral Brush or Kabuki brush is offered, the price before rebate is $4.99.

And last but not least, you can get the Wal-Zyr 24 hour allergy relief (5ct, 10mg), value of $3.99.

If you are not familiar with the Walgreens Easy Saver Catalog, you submit all your rebates together at the end of each month, in one envelope, and there is no need to send UPC codes. You do need to send the original receipts and circle all the rebate items. For all the details, be sure to check the Walgreens Easy Saver Catalog site.

    FAR at Rite Aid
RiteAid's rebates are even better than Walgreens in terms of submission. You can submit them online, entering numbers from the receipt, with no need to mail anything in! That is really nice. Then at the end of each month you request your total rebate amonut for the month. More details at Rite Aid Rebate Plus.

This week's FAR special includes the brand "Certain Dri Feet" for free after a $4 rebate. You have a choice of Powder (1.25oz) or Pads (74ct). Limit one rebate per person.

Meanwhile a double $2.50 single check rebate is offered for Lifestyles (12ct) or Excite gel (0.5oz). Limit one rebate!

And more FARs at Rite Aid! Your choice of Neutrogena Triple Moisture Shampoo or Conditioner or Serum. The rebate is $3, but it is doubled, so it becomes free after rebate!

PS> Not free, but of interest to Tom Of Maine fanatics, you can any two items (mouthwash, toothpaste or deodorant) for $5 after a $1 Single Check Rebate.

RiteAid free after on-package mail-in rebates
These are traditional individual mail-in rebates, you have to send individually, by snail-mail and such, may have to send upc codes as well. The rebates are on the package, they are not in the RiteAid catalog.

The items? Accu-Check Aviva blood glucose meter ($20 MIR), Ascensa Contour blood glucose monitoring sytem ($10 MIR), OneTouch Ultra 2 glucose monitor ($30 MIR), and Freestyle Freedom Lite monitor ($30 MIR). MIR of course being the mail-in rebate.
