New Discover credit card promotions in the Sunday paper coupon books!

Discover Card has two new promotions found in the Sunday paper coupon books. This promotions promise even bigger initial bonus for new cardmembers!

Discover More Card promotion
This promotion is for a traditional Discover credit card and has the following special benefits:

  • $100 Cashback bonus after you make $500+ in purchases with your new credit card. This is HUGE! That's a great temptation on its own.
  • 0% APR on balance transfers until July 2008. Be sure to read the terms and conditions of balance transfers, and know that any subsequent purchases will be charges the full APR, as long as you have lower balances. Ideally if you plan to use this card for a balance transfer, don't use it for anything else, until you pay off the balance transfer
  • 5% Cashback bonus on select categories that change every three motnhs. Do note that these are not uncapped. There is usually a cap of how much you can earn every three months on the special 5% cashback bonus categories
  • And a negative, the standard cashback bonus on all other purchases is not a flat 1%, but rather starts at a pathetically miserable 0.25% and goes up the more you spend. The 5% cashback bonus purchases may not count towards this amount. But considering the $100 initial bonus and 0% APR until July 2009, we can forgive them this time :)
  • Platinum benefits (whatever that means)

  • $100 Cashback Bonus, just as explained above
  • 3.99% APR on balance transfers until the year 2012 (yes, twenty-twelve, the year the world may end?)
  • Up to 1% standard cashhback bonus (starts at 0.25% and increases as you spend more)
  • No special category 5% cashback bonus like the card above
  • Platinum benefits (whatever that means)
